Screenshot Gallery: Mafia 2

It’s been a while since my last screenshot gallery, sorry about that. Was on holiday in Croatia and didn’t really think about gaming there. 🙂

With Mafia 3 right around the corner and me waiting for it like crazy, I took some picks from my Mafia 2 screenshots. I played through this one about two years ago and it was quite amazing. The plot is, as in the first game, a big part of the experience and in both games it’s very well done and fairly easy to follow and enjoy.

The gun fights in Mafia 2 are also fun and sometimes very challenging if you set your difficulty level high enough. You’ll die quickly if you don’t duck for cover often. Going to cover and shooting are in my opinion pretty well done as there’s always a chance of it being mighty frustrating instead of entertaining. Mafia 2’s driving is also (in lack of a better word) quite “realistic” compared to many. I had fun driving around the city.

Here’s some shots.

Screenshot gallery: Rise Of The Tomb Raider

ROTTR has some awesome lighting effects and incredible detail, the Foundation engine Crystal Dynamics uses on this game really bring the world to life.

The facial characteristics have always been above others in Square Enix titles such as this and the earlier TR and Hitman: Absolution (Sh*tty game otherwise IMO). Well I guess great lighting and shadows in games are just really normal nowadays and I’m just terribly old. But I don’t care! It makes taking beautiful screenshots an absolute joy! 🙂

Some other points about the game besides the visuals. It’s great fun. You get about 30 hours of gameplay from it without any DLC or post-plot exploring. The plot is pretty decent with it’s own twists and turns, it keeps you interested. You also have your basic collectibles, gun parts, crafting materials, tombs to raid and crypts to explore. The gameplay is also quite well constructed although there were a handful of bugs and glitches but they rarely affected my playing in a negative way. In my opinion the fighting and shooting was better in the reboot of 2013 but other than that I’d say these two are both equally enjoyable Tomb Raider games. A warm recommend from my part.

Here are some shots I considered cool:

Screenshot gallery: Just Cause 3

Ahh, Just  Cause 3.. I remember watching my friend play Just Cause 2 back in the day with his SLI GTX460s and was pretty stunned by the look of the game and all the things you can do on the island. Well Just Cause 3 is all that and a hell of a lot more!

There are several improvements compared to the earlier games in the series. The grappling hook has more tricks up it’s sleeve, the area to play in is bigger, you have a wing suit which makes travelling without a vehicle much faster than with just a parachute and the visuals look better as expected.

There’s of course a bad guy in charge that you’re supposed to defeat but that pretty much is not the point of the game. The point actually being (again) the sheer amount of stuff you can play with (explode, throw, grapple hook, fly, drive etc.). Playing with your grapple hook and the physics in the game is tons of fun. When you play in JC3, usually something explodes and when it does, it looks awesome!

Ok, got a little carried away with this one since I have so many hours of playtime behind me that the screenshot library also got a bit out of hand. Hope you enjoyed!

Screenshot gallery: Sleeping Dogs Definitive Edition

Sleeping Dogs. Such a great game. I had many hours of fun with this one and you can get it pretty cheap from a Steam sale.

It’s an open world game with a bit more “arcadey” feel to it compared to GTAV for example. The driving takes time to get used to and to enjoy but it’s fun once you do. The fighting mechanics are top notch and although a bit simple, they provide a satisfactory range of attacks, blocks and deflects as well as the opportunity to use your surroundings to get rid of an enemy.
An example of the fighting by me: SleepingDogs fighting 1080p Ultra 60fps

But from screenshot point of view the game also looks great. Especially the night in the city is beautiful but no scene in the game is an eye-sore. Some shots, sil vous plait..

Screenshot gallery: GTAV

Yes, the game no one has probably heard before. I’m not going to give a big introduction on this one since it obviously doesn’t need it.

BUT I will give credit to the graphics on this game. The lighting, the reflections and especially the depth of field or DoF. It makes objects close to the player look sharp and focused while objects in the distance are more blurry and out of focus. It makes the game much more life like. The effect is amplified when looking at a car for example from really close and I think one can get pretty cool screenshots from that and from anywhere in the game. So here’s 40. 🙂

Next up: Spintires screenshot gallery

Spintires is an amazing game at least if you like being stuck in mud. I’ve been stuck for 30hrs now. Been fun. Here’s some shots.

The game itself is pretty much hauling lumber from one place to another with fueling, towing and off-roading in between. But it’s due to the oh-so-well-made MUD that makes it all worthwhile.

You actually want to get that pile of wood across a muddy,  deep puddle-infested forest road by any means necessary. And you have a ton of means, old Russian means! (And some new). You should definitely give it a chance!

Shooting screens…

I’ve been gaming a number of years now (24 to be exact, since 6 yrs old) and I’ve taken an even larger number of screenshots and gaming videos during that time. I mostly game on a PC and all of the screenshots here are taken by me from a game played by me. One day I thought to myself “What’s the use of this? Is anyone ever going to see these?”

That however was not the beginning of this blog. That was some two years ago. I was too lazy to go beyond thought. Since then I’ve been gaming a lot more and had fun taking even more screenshots. But today after an especially refreshing coffee I  decided to do something about this matter other than just sitting on my a..

Well, actually I did just that. Kinda helps with the typing.

Far Cry® 42016-3-4-23-12-57Far Cry® 42016-3-31-23-48-32016-03-04_00008

I decided to go with Far Cry 4 first since it’s the most recent game I’ve spent time on (~60hrs). Screenshot library on this title shows about 400 shots taken. I really like the graphics on this one and one of the most screenshootable elements of the game are the godrays meaning sunlight filtering through and around objects as seen in the first pic. Also the lighting in general is plain awesome.

I personally liked the game as have so many others. It doesn’t blow you away with the plot although it’s not bad. There are some twists and turns in the story of course but the main point in the game is to have fun with everything that is handed to you. A vast open world with places to explore and outposts to liberate and obliterate. Also a huge number of collectibles if you’re into that. Some of which earn you some new weapons or other useful items. There’s a considerable amount of side quests and little missions too which are pretty fun.

Well this is not exactly supposed to be a review so here are some shots I took from the game.

I decided to go with 1080p shots because my computer let alone my monitor can’t really handle bigger resolutions at very high settings and I wanted to take the screens while playing and having fun rather than just start a game because of screenshots.
